Michael Turconi Drafted

Michael Turconi, 2018 Blackhawk graduate and Wake Forest shortstop, was drafted in the 15th round by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. This comes off of Turconi's best season ever statistically. Batting .314 and with an OPS over 1.000, he showed improvement in almost all statistical categories. This season came after he was not drafted in the previous draft. Taking pro scouts' tips to stock and with a chip on his shoulder, Turconi posted his best season in his college career. Brian Omogrosso, Adam Liberatore, and Brendan McKay have all gone from Blackhawk to Major League Baseball and played at least 1 game in the majors. Michael Turconi hopes to join that elite club. His journey will likely start in Dunedin, FL, where the Blue Jays' Low-A team, the Dunedin Blue Jays, and Florida Complex League team, the FCL Blue Jays, play. Good luck to Turconi, and I hope to see him in the majors someday. Update: Michael Turconi signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on July 26, 2022. As of whe...

Military Recruiting: Where It Stands Today

James McConville, only about 23% of people ages 17-24, the military's key demographic, are able to serve. This is caused by the stringent entry requirements. Requirements such as not allowing those with ADHD, mental disorders, and obesity have caused many prospective recruits to be denied. A full list of these conditions...

Where have I been?

Recently, I have been missing from writing this blog. But why, you may ask? In short, I have been busy. I went to New York for fun, Dallas for TSA, and I have also been doing SAT prep and working on a secret project. You will not find out for a while, but I and a friend of mine have been working on it this summer. This business has led me not to work on this blog. It simply slipped down the priority list. However, I will be back, however sporadic it may be, and continue the military recruiting investigation.
